Janette Taylor, Nederland. Nederland Library Director Elektra Greer and the staff of the library are very excited to move into a new phase in our Covid recovery plan, starting June 1st.
The Nederland Community Library was one of only three libraries in the state that remained open, though at fewer hours and patron numbers, during a time when many other libraries reduced their services to the point of closing their buildings to the public. Now we are moving closer to our pre-Covid hours and services, but still with some limitations.
As of June 1, the library hours will be Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The number of patron slots are still limited, so it is best to call and schedule your 1/2 hour browsing or computer time (up to one hour per day if there is availability). The front door will remain locked, and you will still be asked to knock and let us know you are there. Call us as well if you want to drop by to pick up a hold book; curbside pick-up will still be available from our back door, which is accessible via West Third Street. The library phone number is 303-258-1101.
Another “re-opening” is our schedule of Preschool Storytimes. These will happen on Wednesdays (best for 0-2 year olds), Thursdays (best for 2-4 year olds) and Fridays (best for 2-4 year olds). We may be adding a second time for 0-2 year olds, so please check our website. All story times are 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with limited attendance. To sign up for Storytime, feel free to do so online (Under the “In Person” tab) or call the library. You can also email Michael at MSivcovich@nedlib.org.
Finally, we are bringing back the Summer Reading Program. Kicking off on June 1, there is a tab to sign up for it at NedLib.org as well. The Summer Reading Program will offer many adventures and opportunities for our area youth.
We’re looking forward to an exciting summer, ramping slowly back up to “normal” times.
The Nederland Community Library is located at 200 N Hwy 72 Nederland, CO 80466. They can be reached at (303) 258-1101.
