MFP Yard Sale coming in June

Something almost remarkable is happening on the first weekend of June 2023. It is remarkable in several ways, firstly because the Mountain Forum for Peace Annual Yard Sale began in 1984-85 to support good causes and provide an amazing ecological and economic opportunity in Nederland. The money raised by the sale has supported mid-wives and womens’ health in Uganda, and an AIDS Orphanage in Guinea for decades. Forums about Nuclear War and Counter Recruitment training since the Iraq Wars in 1990 to the present, MFP presents grants to Nederland students who want to do service projects in many places all over the world [visit mountainforumforpeace.com].

Mountain Forum for Peace (MFP) held peace vigils weekly for 14 months during the run up to the US war in Iraq. Mountain Forum for Peace was founded to help members protest nuclear war and champion a world without war.

If you’d like to support a world without war, gather up your giveaways, clean clothes, shoes and boots, working kitchen items, CDs, sports equipment, jewelry, bikes, linens, plants, and toys. You can drop off your donations at the Nederland Community Center Tuesday, May 30, 31, June 1, noon to 6 p.m. Plan to shop Nederland’s only continuous annual yard sale June 2, 3, 4.

Nederland neighbors who volunteer to help make new friends and enjoy old friends while they sort clothing, set up clothes racks, organize tables, price jewelry and furniture, put-up signage, act as cashiers, arrange sporting goods. Helpers are invited to shop early.

Everything is reasonably priced. Please have MFP members price items that are without prices... AND everything is free on Sunday, noon to 1 p.m. June 4 just before clean-up. We treasure Nederland neighbors that stay for clean-up.

PS: There’s a big list of items we cannot take, same as last year, most common sensical: car seats, cribs, small appliances that DO NOT WORK. We can not accept grungy clothing. We set up tables for FREE items next to our dumpster in the lower parking lot.
