Lt. Ken Kehoe memorial planned for Saturday

Posted

Please join the Nederland Fire Protection District in honoring the service of Lieutenant Ken Kehoe, who passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

“I am sad to announce the passing of Lt. Ken Kehoe.  Lt. Kehoe honorably volunteered for Nederland Fire for 12 years. His death has been a challenge to accept for all that knew him here,” Fire Chief Charlie Schmidtmann said to his crew and the NFPD Board of Directors.

“Ken was the calm, composed, and balanced member of the department,” the District wrote in a social media message to the community. “His presence on an incident would instantly bring order into an otherwise chaotic situation.”

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Nederland Fire Station at 650 West 4th Street. A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by the service until 12:30 p.m., followed by a procession along West 3rd Street, and then a reception starting at 1 p.m., with food and refreshments.

Parking will be available at the RTD parking lot, the Calvary Chapel, the Nederland Community Library, and the Nederland Community Center. There will be a shuttle service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. between these locations and the Fire Station.   See parking map at themtnear.com.
