Dr. Charles Smith, Peak to Peak. The October 5th Grand Opening event for the new collaboration between the Peak to Peak Players and the Central City Opera Association was a resounding success. Starting with a delicious dinner held at JKQ BBQ across the street, the public moved across the street and proceeded with the opening program of Introductions and comments commenced. Dr. Charles Smith began the remarks with Mr. Mark Ragan and Mrs. Jacquelyn O’Brien presenting the history of the Peak to Peak Players as well as acknowledgements of the many community volunteers that have made contributions. The capacity crowd of over 100 participants then enjoyed a wonderful concert headlined by Mr. Doug Fisichella.
The Stables is an 85 seat theatre that has superb acoustics and a lovely intimate space. Seating is comfortable. During the Grand Opening a symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony was held with Central City Mayor Jeremy Fey.
The Peak to Peak Players will become host to a wide variety of events in the near future at the Stables.
Jess Schmeling has begun teaching Basic Theatre Techique at the Stables. This is an eight week class and 12 students taking part.
The next concert performance will be Dutch and the Redhed on Saturday, October 12, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
Beginning in October there will be classes held called the Mean Green Bean Emotional Theater class for young students, ages 6 – 9 years. Classes will be held every Sunday from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. Registration can be found at www. Peaktopeakplayers.com
Future events at the Stables include square dance classes, movies, karaoke, stage performances, concerts, and a much needed rehearsal space for the company.
The Peak to Peak Players at the Stables continues with its mission statement to entertain, enrich, and inspire the rural mountains communities by producing a wide variety of high-quality theatrical productions.
Since its beginnings in 2018, the company has produced over 10 productions. The eleventh production will be Willy Wonka, Jr. in November at the Gilpin School.
