Peak Perspectives: Old & new

Posted

This morning, Wednesday, I woke up to a long awaited email. If you have a child in the military, you know that that means. My heart is full.

This week has been exceptionally busy. I have been meeting with a lot of people to help brainstorm the direction of the newspaper. We are on solid ground, for the first time in a long time. I had to buy a new computer this week. Mine has been slowing down to the point of crashing a couple times each week. During the process, I looked at several models and ended up buying almost the same one I have, just 5 years newer. It’s been amazing, although slow in the transfer process of moving things around.

I am reprinting the restaurant list week. I had so many people ask for copies of it, I decided to run it again. We will print this once or twice a year. And it can be shared online anytime! It is a process we started during Covid, that expanded over two-years to a giant list of where to eat and drink in the Peak to Peak. Future editions will expand from there. If we didn’t get your business in, email us at info@themountainear.com and we will get you updated online quickly. And we will get you in the next print edition (sometime in the fall or winter).

I started to explore reopening a project I had closed. Watch for details about that soon!

I am scheduling staff meetings for the rest of May and all of June. And scheduling new “News & Brews” for both months. If you’d like to host a News & Brews, let me know. Any location in the Peak to Peak is great! We promote your business and bring a few people to chat about local news.

As we head into graduation season, I’d like to thank the students that applied for the Barbara Lawlor Memorial Scholarship. Two students will receive scholarships in memory of our friend and mentor, Barbara. Barbara worked with the paper for about three decades. We still miss her every day.

As always my door is open (in Nederland and Black Hawk), my phone is on and my email gets checked regularly. Contact me at info@themountainear.com or call 303-810-5409. The Mountain-Ear is YOUR community newspaper!
