BUENA VISTA — This week I spent both Saturday and Sunday at the Fairgrounds Frenzy and Nederland Farmers Market. By Sunday morning, I was feeling like I really needed a break. I booked a room out of town, loaded up the car, convinced my husband we needed to have a nice break at one of our favorite places, and off we went.
The feeling of peace and quiet, the ability to focus out, so we can just enjoy a few months, has greatly improved my mental wellbeing and I feel ready to once again jump in, both feet forward, and get back to work. Well, as soon as I’m back home anyway.
Woo-hoo, it’s finally here—the 2026 Peak to Peak Studio Tour is this weekend. I’m so excited! The tour winds along the Peak to Peak from Allenspark to Central City, including hundreds of artists in the larger galleries, and individual artists in the home studios and smaller galleries.
The map can be viewed online at bit.ly/StudioTourMap This is our fourth annual tour and each year seems like it gets better and better. And, if you follow this link, you can see the profiles of the artists and galleries that are participating in the tour: themtnear.com/studio-tour.
This week, I am happy to report that all Gilpin candidates have agreed to participate in the Candidates Forum on Saturday, September 26 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Old Court House in Central City.
That’s right, all ten candidates will be there. If you have a question to ask any of the candidates, there is still time. Send your questions by email to p2pcandidatequestions@gmail.com by Friday, September 18, at 5 p.m.
Coming up on Saturday, The Mountain-Ear will have a booth at the Peak to Peak People’s Fest. We love our booths and participating in local events. At our booth, we will have our Studio Tour guides, Visitor’s Guides, Caribou Currents, and several editions of The Mountain-Ear. Please stop in and visit with us, renew your subscription, and let us know what is your most important thing happening in the Peak to Peak.
Have you seen the signs around town that say BEST OF THE PEAKS 2026? These signs have a QR code on them. You can scan the QR and follow the prompts to VOTE. You can also simply follow this link: vote.themtnear.com. This is a very cool opportunity to recognize your favorite local places in the Peak to Peak region. Voting ends October 2.
As always, The Mountain-Ear is your community source for news. Find us at themtnear.com, on YouTube at youtube.com/@themtnear, on Facebook at facebook.com/mtnear/ or Instagram at instagram.com/mtn.ear/.
