Gilpin County Candidates forum September 26

Posted

NEDERLAND — On Saturday, September 26, 2026, The Mountain-Ear will host a Candidates Forum at the Old Central City courthouse, located at 203 Eureka Street. Nine candidates for Gilpin County will attend. Sheriff candidate Zach Meyer will be absent due to a death in the family.

We have received 55 questions and we're working to line them out by the candidate office, and remove duplicate questions. We hope to see a large turnout of local residents to listen to each candidate answer questions about their vision for Gilpin County.

For additional information, email info@themountainear.com. The Mountain-Ear puts this event together for local city, town, and county elections.

This past weekend, The Mountain-Ear participated in our annual Studio Tour at The Vault. The tour was started four years ago by our staff. It focuses on artists, home studios, and galleries from Allenspark to Central City. Next year we will add Lyons into the mix, upon request from businesses located there.

You can find information about the artists and galleries that participated here: themtnear.com/studio-tour/. If your business is interested in next year's Studio Tour or any of our publications or events, reach out to us at info@themountainear.com.

We also had a booth at the Peak to Peak People’s Festival in Gilpin County. The event was put on by the Gilpin County Democrats and attendance was excellent.

Upcoming events beyond the Candidates Forum where we have booths include two final weekends of Nederland Farmers Market, Wild Turkey Fest in Allenspark, and winter markets in Nederland and Gilpin County.
