LITTLETON — The Nederland Cross Country Team competed at their first meet, the Liberty Bell Invitational, on Saturday, September 5, at Heritage High School in Littleton. It is always a huge meet with exceptional talent and competition.
Although it was a hot and sunny morning, the Panthers pulled through for a great race, and some even got to participate in the Liberty Bell meet tradition of ringing the personal record (PR) bell.
The girls' team scored a podium top three finish, with each girl scoring high points for the team. Leading this victory was Nederland senior Amika Begin, who finished in third place overall. Begin was followed by junior Libby Chandler, sophomore Isla Harmon, freshman Emmaline Rosenblum, and sophomore Lily Troy.
The boys' team as well had a great race, with three sophomore boys: Tyler Begin, Wyatt Gast, and Nathan Sibray. All three sped through the course rapidly and finished with a rewarding time.
It was Nathan Sibray's first ever cross country race and Wyatt Gast’s first cross country race as a Panther. Tyler Begin set a Personal Record.
The team and their coaches, Gavin Coombs and Kathy Butler, are preparing for their next meet on September 19. They will travel to Lyons High School for the St. Vrain Cross Country Invitational.
Go Panthers!
