Barbara Lawlor, Nederland. A dozen athletes will represent Nederland High School at the track and field meets this season. Coaches, Dan Shea and Kristin Wagner, who also serves as the Nederland Middle Level Counselor, say the team may be small, but it is mighty.
Coach Wagner is a former collegiate athlete and Coach Shea says, “We are very happy to have her.”
Each year, the athletes begin training, focusing on each meet to come but with the ultimate hope of qualifying to go to the state meet at the end of the season. This year the team has a bunch of chances at qualifying.
Maeve Anderson is the solo senior in this year’s competition, and she is hoping to qualify in either the Shot Put or the Discus.

The mile contenders, one mile, two miles, or both are: Sarah Davidson, Adam Figgins, Scout Edmonson and Kiernan McClish.
Aubrey Charlson has a chance as well, in either the Long Jump, the 100-meter run, or the 200-meter run.
“Just because we are small, doesn’t mean we don’t work hard, and we look forward to an exciting season,” says Coach Shea.
This weekend the team will participate in the Boulder County Championships at Longmont High School, which is always a large event.
