Gilpin County School has a staff full of caring people and this year a number of new people have joined the staff, including previous students who graduated from Gilpin County School.
Michelle Ohde is the new school counselor. Ohde comes to Gilpin School from Jefferson Center for Mental Health. She is there for students struggling with anxiety or other mental health or home problems. Students who have talked to her have given glowing reviews and seem really happy with her.
A new member has joined the custodial staff who helps keep the school both functional and clean, Kevin Morick. A new kitchen staff member has joined the school as well, Lexi Morick, who is a graduate of Gilpin County School.
Nina LaJudice is a new teacher for Gilpin’s Monetessori program. Vanessa Amaya, a Gilpin School graduate, teaches elementary Montessori as well. Kaylie Murphy, another Gilpin School graduate, is a teacher’s assistant in the elementary school. She says she was drawn to teaching and children since she grew up babysitting her younger siblings.
Caitlin Davidson, a person who always seems to be smiling, is not new to the school but is in a new position. This year Davidson is a mathematics interventionist and the elementary technology teacher. Samantha Basdeo was a student at Gilpin School and now has children of her own at the school. She works at the front of the school letting people in and out of the door and helps keep track of the kids.
Amy Wilson is a part-time teacher special education who helps students with their IEPs. Wilson comes to Gilpin as a Mt. Evans BOCES employee. Kayla Carlson has also joined the staff as a paraprofessional, supporting students with special needs. She is a Mt. Evans BOCES employee. Also coming from Mt. Evans BOCES is Lisa Cordova. Cordova supports a student with special needs.
Mary Goodman has joined the Lower Montessori staff as a paraprofessional. In the preschool Kristen Marr is a new preschool teacher and Connie McLain is a new paraprofessional.
Welcome to all the staff at Gilpin County School. Gilpin School is endlessly grateful to all the parents, staff, and students who make up the school’s community.
