New signage for Nederland library

Posted

Elektra Greer, Nederland. Your Nederland Community Library provides programs, events and services that are of interest and value to you. We are always taking in your feedback and looking at the best ways to invest library resources into the community we serve. Keeping our vibrant community connected, informed and engaged is our top priority. Our library team works at communicating with you through our website, e-newsletter, FaceBook, Instagram, The Mountain-Ear, outreach, and word-of-mouth. Still, we often hear that patrons are unaware of some of our great programs and services, until the opportunity to take advantage of them has passed. This has led us to consider expanding the ways we communicate with you.

For several years, the Library District, in partnership with the Library Foundation, has been considering a programmable, lighted LED sign at the front of the parking lot. Outdoor signage has long been recognized as the most cost-effective way for small organizations to communicate with patrons and customers. Investing in programmable technology enables us to provide you with relevant and timely information, including real-time weather, emergency, and safety updates. A programmable sign will also enable us to turn off our signage in the evenings, in keeping with Nederland’s Dark Sky Initiative.

The Library is hoping to break ground on an outdoor sign by the end of the year and we want your input. Please email us at nederlandlibrary@gmail.com and your comments and questions will be discussed at our upcoming Board meeting, October 28, 2020, 7 p.m.  (Board meetings are always open to the public; please email us in advance for our Zoom login information.)

Let’s continue making the Library a vital asset to our Community.
