JAMESTOWN — The Town of Jamestown was supposed to have an election on April 7, 2026. Just before that date, there were no new candidates, leaving the mayor and trustees to be automatically reelected. The election was, therefore, canceled.
At the last moment, one trustee opted to retire, and the one official candidate for the position was deemed elected.
As a result, the Town of Jamestown has now officially sworn in its Mayor and Board of Trustees for the upcoming municipal term.
Mary Ellen Burch, Town Clerk for Jamestown, commented that “It’s hard to get people to run [for office].”
Jamestown welcomes both returning and newly elected officials who will help guide Jamestown’s leadership and community priorities in the years ahead.
The following officials were sworn in to serve the Town of Jamestown:
● Michael Box, Mayor — beginning his fourth term
● Annamaria Boehms, Mayor Pro Tem and Town Trustee — reelected
● Steve Oncley, Town Trustee — reelected
● Roger Loving, Town Trustee — reelected
● Erin Jobe, Town Trustee — reelected
● Michal Duffey, Town Trustee — reelected
● Louis Maurer, Town Trustee — first term
In addition, the Town announces the following staff appointments:
● Seth Strickland, Fire Chief
● Sterling Bennink, Floodplain Administrator
Mayor Box and the Board of Trustees will continue working on behalf of Jamestown residents to support responsible governance, infrastructure maintenance, wildfire preparedness, and preservation of the town’s unique mountain character.
Residents are encouraged to remain engaged with local government by attending Town Board meetings and participating in public discussions. Town Board meetings are open to the public, and meeting agendas and announcements are available through the Town of Jamestown.
