Barbara Lawlor, Nederland. When the cottonwoods turn to copper down below, the front range high school runners begin their final stretch toward the state championships.
On Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, the Nederland High School Panthers were among 20 Colorado High School teams that participated in the Arvada West Cross Country Invitational, just two meets before the Mile High Championships. The NHS girls’ team came in 12 out of 18 teams, 135 runners, a noteworthy feat considering the team consists of seven runners. Sophomore Helen Cross is the front runner of the Ned girls, a state probable.

Although the Ned boys did not muster enough runners to place as a team, two participants represented the Panther pride.
