Monica LaSalle, Nederland. On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office assisted Nederland Police in the apprehension of local resident Justice Adler, who had multiple warrants out for his arrest.

Adler, who had been living as a transient for an unknown length of time, has been charged with attempted second degree murder, second degree assault, four counts of violation of protection order, second degree trespass, harassment, domestic violence and three failure to comply warrants for the following charges of assault in the third degree, possession of a controlled substance schedule 3/4/5, criminal violation of a protection order and assault in the third degree.

The alleged victim, a 44 year old female and resident of the Town of Nederland, stated in her report that the suspect had allegedly violated a protection order that had been in place since January 28, 2019, and a second one in place since June 26, 2019, by approaching her property multiple times despite being told directly to leave. The suspect also allegedly made illegal contact with the victim through text messages.

The victim reported that on May 3, 2020, the suspect allegedly trespassed on her property and residence by moving into a secondary living dwelling on her property. The suspect refused multiple orders to leave the premises throughout the coming days, with the end result being the suspect allegedly assaulting the victim through strangulation on the afternoon of May 6, 2020.

After a careful and thorough investigation of the facts of the case, Nederland Police sought arrest warrants through the Boulder County Justice Center on May 23, 2020.

Due to the transient nature of the suspect, Nederland Police conducted a search for the 48 year old male that crossed over into Gilpin County. The suspect was taken into custody by Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office. He was transferred into Nederland Police Department custody later that day, and transported to Boulder County Jail without incident. The victim has been put into contact with a Victim’s Advocate for services as a result of the incident.
