Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County.  It was a close, hard-played game, but the Gilpin Eagles' prevailed against the North Park Wildcats, 33-22.

The game began with a Wildcat score but Jessica Wilhelm, Berkeley Davis and Carly Johnson worked the ball to the basket to put the Eagles ahead 5-2 at the end of the first period.

Berkley and then Keely Schmidt scored in the second period and Keely sunk a couple of free throws but a Cat free throw and a couple of rushes on the basket gave North Park four more points to tie the game, 13-13 at halftime.

The Gilpin girls played well, connecting with one another and using their talent and athleticism to give them the punch in the game.

Cicely Lepro scored first in the third period and then lofted a three-pointer at the whistle, taking the Eagles to a one-point lead 22-21.

That was the end of the game. The fourth period began and the Gilpin girls never looked back, holding the Cats to one point, 10 points less than the Eagles. Berkley, Jessica, Keely and Cicely all had their fingers in the win pie. It was a fun fourth period for the fans.

Berkley Davis was named the Player of the Game.
