Nederland
It's been almost a decade since Denim and Lace closed its doors and the women of Nederland lost their prized boutique without rival. Women from across the country flocked to the shop in the summers and often were shocked to find such a treasure in a small mountain town. Kimberly Spagnola, the owner and brilliance behind the one-of-a-kind boutique said she has never stopped hearing, "We miss your shop!" In her first month of business in Wings of Lace, Spagnola is very pleased by the response.
Those customers who loved the Victorian/Bohemian look of the clothing, gifts and accessories will recognize a lot of the lines from Denim and Lace. Spagnola says she has also brought in some wonderful new lines with great prices and that locals have embraced the new boutique with open arms. She says the customers are coming in and saying it reminds them of Denim and Lace.
Spagnola closed her doors to try out a new venture. She travelled to Italy, looking for new lines and enjoying her photography hobby. She opened up at the Denver Merchandise Mart and began selling wholesale to shops, but she says reopening a boutique in Ned has always been in the back of her mind. She says she will continue to travel to Italy, looking for treasures to sell in the new boutique. When asked what spurred her to open the new boutique now, she says she simply missed her mountain 'family'. Spagnola said she wants to grow old up here, surrounded by that wonderful community.
Spagnola will continue her wholesale business as well and enjoys supplying other shops with unique items. Before becoming a wholesaler herself, Spagnola found they would often encourage her to purchase whatever the newest trend was. Spagnola has a keen eye for buying and would let them know that she had her own ideas about what was going to please her customers. This is part of the magic that was Denim and Lace and why Spagnola's customers were hungry for her to open another boutique.
Terry Forman, who worked at Denim and Lace and is helping out in the new boutique said, "Kimberly has exquisite taste and it just makes me happy to be in that environment." Forman will be helping out in the shop and says she's looking forward to seeing everyone again.
One thing is for certain. She's back. The ladies of Nederland can rejoice because Spagnola has brought her unique style of boutique back to them.
Wings of Lace opened on July 1, 2016 and had its grand opening on the 4th of July. Located at 75 East First St, in unit A, the boutique will be open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Saturday and from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Sunday. Spagnola noted that she will try to stay open a bit later if customers are shopping. After all, she loves her community.
