Joe McCullough, 72, of Gilpin County, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 12, 2026.
Joe was born in Philadelphia on July 6, 1954, to parents Joseph and Catherine McCullough.
At 18, he set out on a road trip with his best friend and fell in love with the Rocky Mountains—a place he would proudly call home for the rest of his life. His deep passion for skiing and mountain living kept his spirit vibrant and vital through his final years.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Darby Rae McCullough, and his partner, Sally Chappell.
To love Joe was to be loved in return—with fierce loyalty, generosity, and an unwavering heart. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at Trinity Mountain Ranch on October 3rd at 1 p.m.
