Meet Sierra Ramsey, a Gilpin County High School student who was born and raised in Arvada, Colorado. She attended Sierra Elementary School until the sixth grade when she moved to Black Hawk.
Her earliest fondest memory of Gilpin is the comaraderie between friends. Sierra’s activities and memberships include choir, theater, cheerleading, and the National Junior Honor Society.
Her high school activities include choir in the ninth grade, volleyball in the ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades, as well as Student Council in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades. She has worked at Qdoba and is currently working at Grapes and Sons Excavating.
One reason Sierra has loved attending Gilpin is becoming better friends with teachers. She shares, “You don’t think of them as boring or mean, but rather relate to them.”
Living in the Gilpin County area and the school campus has made it easy for Sierra to continue her education. She had many favorite classes, including AP Literature “because of the amazing discussions and anatomy.”
Attending Gilpin was also a place close to home for Sierra. Her mom is a staff member at the elementary school, and Sierra appreciated being able to see her mom when she was having a bad day or just for fun when she had no class.
Sierra says her little sister Avery Ramsey helped make school easier and awesome. She will miss the social aspect of high school. Her advice to those attending Gilpin School is “Don’t dwell on little things whether it is drama or school related.”
Sierra is passionate about working, cooking, and writing. After graduation, she plans on continuing her career at Grapes & Sons Excavating.
Congratulations, Sierra, for your academic accomplishments and career!
