Gilpin Eagles vs. Hayden Tigers

Aucklynn Sacco, Gilpin County. The Gilpin County Football team faced the Hayden Tigers last Friday night, November 7, 2020, in Hayden, Colorado. The Eagles traveled three hours to face the Tigers on their new football field, which had never been used before. The Eagles had just come off a loss and were determined to win. 

The team left the school at 1:30 p.m., for the kickoff at 7 p.m. It was an exciting game, keeping the fans on the edge of their seat and the players on their toes. In the first quarter of the game, both teams kept a strong defense, and neither team could score. In the second quarter, the Gilpin Eagles secured two touchdowns and one 2-point conversion. The Tigers matched the Eagles and scored a touchdown and the 2-point conversion. With less than 30 seconds in the quarter, the Tigers scored another touchdown, tying the game. 

Both teams got a twenty minute half-time, and the Tigers enjoyed a half-time performance for their homecoming. After the twenty minutes, both teams went back out on the field, ready to secure a victory. In the third quarter, the Gilpin Eagles scored one touchdown, breaking the tie; no-one else scored in this quarter. 

Within the first few minutes of the fourth quarter, the Gilpin Eagles scored another touchdown, getting the 2-point conversion. The Tigers were not far behind, scoring a touchdown and getting the 2-point conversion. The Eagles, however, came back and scored another touchdown while securing the 2-point conversion. In the last two minutes of the game, the Gilpin Eagles scored two touchdowns, both times getting the 2-point conversion. In the last 45 seconds, the Tigers answered and scored one-touchdown along with the 2-point conversion. 

The final score: 44-30 for the Eagle’s third victory of the season.
