Cherokee Blake, Gilpin County. As the Memorial Day weekend approaches Gilpin County has experienced a large increase in the number of non-residents visiting the county. As a result, the Gilpin County Commissioners acting in their capacity as the Gilpin County Board of Health, has amended the Gilpin County Public Health Order 20-7 to include travel restrictions for non-residents on the following roads: Tolland, Apex Valley, Columbine Campground, Missouri Gulch and Bald Mountain Lane. The Board of Health feels this is necessary as the numbers of visitors parking and gathering on these roads has risen tremendously since most of the state adopted the Governor’s “Safer at Home” order.

“Recreation in Gilpin County is available to residents and non-residents as long as they are complying with the 10-mile radius of their residence as outlined in the Governor’s Order” stated Commissioner Ron Engels. He continued, “As we’ve said before and will continue emphasizing, we take the health and welfare of our citizens and visitors alike, very seriously. That’s why we feel these measures are necessary.”

This order is effective May 21, 2020 thru May 29, 2020.
