Juliet Ragan, Gilpin County. Since March 2020, there have been no youth theatre performances in Gilpin County, Colorado. Theatre gives people an opportunity to perform in front of many people and gain confidence. They work with other students, learn how to interact, and have a good time performing together. Starting this March 2021, The Gilpin County high school students have decided to start their own theatre group.

The organizers are Aucklynn Sacco, Archer O’Brien, William Hunt, Emily Williams, and Katelyne O’Sullivan. The adult supervisor will be actress and vocal coach Sinna Hirsch. Auditions will be held on March 20th, 2021, and anyone in high school is welcome to audition. The group is student-led and will host many opportunities for its members, including, student-led productions and theatre workshops. The actors will be able to take part in the International Thespian Society.

“We look forward to performances in the spring,” said Aucklynn Sacco.

The group will perform two one-act plays; The Bible In Thirty Minutes and Everyman In The Circus Of Life. The performers will be able to compete in the Colorado State Thespians Conference, in Denver, Colorado. These actors will also have the opportunity to try their hand at directing.

The students are so excited to be able to perform once again. “Theatre is important to youth,” says leader Aucklynn Sacco. “You get to step into other characters’ shoes and become that person.”

This group is a wonderful chance for Gilpin students to jump back into acting.
