Gallery celebrates by highlighting artists

NEDERLAND - Laurence Delaunay’s beautiful paintings have been featured in several of Nederland’s businesses over the past few years. Her unique style, bringing vibrancy to still moments in nature, exposing the kinetic motion and energy that resonates underneath, has been showcased at places like Salto and Crosscut, and at her own gallery and studio on East 1st Street.

Lolo’s Atelier celebrated its second anniversary on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Friends, fellow artists, local art lovers, and curious walkers-by were welcomed into the warm creative space where Delaunay’s classic work featuring local wildlife, as well as her newest bright and frenetic floral explorations, was on display.

In addition to enjoying the exuberant atmosphere, accented perfectly with music, snacks, and wine, visitors were welcome to browse both the gallery and studio space, and were encouraged to speak with the two artists on display that evening.

The anniversary celebration served as the perfect opportunity for Delaunay to announce an exciting prospect for both Lolo’s Atelier and for local artists, as she is will feature an exhibition in the gallery by a different artist on the first Saturday of every month.

The first featured artist, longtime Nederland resident Judi Anderson, showcased her empowering and inspirational sculptures during the anniversary reception on Saturday. Her work stands as a distinctive expression of her own experiences growing up in different cultures, from Bangkok to Brazil.

Her sculptures, depicting the strength and resilience of bands of women of different cultures, are made all the more original by the ash from the firewood fueling the anagama kiln. The ash from the wood creates a natural glaze on the sculptures, creating a texture that adds personality and depth to her pieces.

Next month, on Saturday, April 5, local artist Brent Bishop will feature his newest work. This monthly showcase is sure to bring more attention, and a change in vibe, to downtown Nederland.
