ELDORA CLOSES FOR THE 2019-20 WINTER SEASON

Posted

Sam Bass, Nederland. Eldora announced today that it will remain closed for the 2019-20 ski season as a result of the continuing challenges and unfolding events surrounding the dynamic and unprecedented COVID-19 public health crisis. This decision marks a significant step by Eldora to help stop the spread of COVID-19. It follows Eldora’s suspension of operations during the March 15–22 timeframe, and more recently, Colorado Governor Jared Polis’s amended executive order extending Colorado ski-area closures through April 6.

“Our decision to end the winter season was not made lightly, and it is the right choice given that we are in the midst of a nation-wide public health crisis,” says Brent Tregaskis, president and general manager of Eldora. “While we’re sad to announce this early closure, we all must do what we can to stop the spread, and our focus remains on our employees, guests, and the local community staying well. We’ve had a fantastic season, and we’re aiming for a healthy return to this adventure lifestyle we love and live for when the situation improves.”

During this time, Eldora encourages everyone to do their part to enable social distancing, an important step to mitigate the risks associated with COVID-19. So that Eldora may enable social distancing, its closure includes all uphill travel, as well as all alpine skiing and snowboarding, nordic skiing, all services, and all access to facilities. Eldora operates on both public and private lands and controls access to those lands. Specific authority to control access to the public lands within Eldora’s permit area is granted by a special-use permit administered by the US Forest Service. Maintenance operations, which can include heavy machinery anywhere on the mountain at any time, may be occurring during the closure. For everyone’s safety, Eldora respectfully asks guests to abide by the closure’s terms.

Eldora is happy to refund day-lesson reservations and offer pro-rated refunds for multi-week lesson programs. These and other refund inquiries can be addressed by contacting Eldora via email at info@eldora.com. We anticipate email high volume and thank our guests for their patience as we process inquiries.
