Eagles swoop past Lions

The Gilpin High School Eagles put another win on their record last Tuesday, January 9, 2018, when they beat the Lyons Lions 58-43 in a home game. This is their second win of the season. Austin Boulter had a superb game, leading with a double double, 11 points and an amazing 19 rebounds to keep the ball headed toward the Eagle basket. Will Lorenz was right behind Boulter with 13 points and 8 rebounds, including three three-pointers. Tanner Davis held up the defense with five steals.

It was a neck to neck matchup in the first period, with both teams scoring 13, but then the Gilpin boys got hot and the points came pouring in. The first half ended with the Eagles ahead 33-21 and they never looked back.

Alex Wilhelm: 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal

Nolan Lindberg: 1 point, 1 rebound, 1 assist;

On Saturday, Jan. 13, the Eagles took on the Cornerstone Christian Bulldogs and lost 37-55 after an 11-point deficit in the third period. They had played close behind up to and after that period, but couldn’t catch up.

Tanner Davis led with 13 points and Austin Boulter had 10 rebounds.

Looking at three points

Gilpin High School Eagle Eric Lorenz has had five three-pointers in the last two games. The Eagles beat the Lyons Lions in their home game last Tuesday.
