Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County. Last Thursday’s win against the West Grand Mustangs was a hard-fought victory for the Gilpin High School Eagles. They led by a point at halftime, and most of the third and fourth period, until in the last four minutes, the Mustangs muscled their way to pull ahead by a point.
The lead didn’t last more than a couple of plays when the Gilpin girls stayed calm and shot true, and won 42-36.
Jessica Wilhelm had a great game coming up with a double double, leading in scoring and rebounding. Cicely Lepro stood strong on defense with five steals, snatching the ball and sending it off to score.

Last Saturday, December 9, 2017, the Eagles lost to the Clear Creek Golddiggers, 18-48. The Idaho Springs team consistently outscored the Gilpin players with senior Grace Werlin scoring 20 points, including two three-pointers.
