The Nederland Food Pantry and Clothing Closet are available to residents of our Peak to Peak community every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon in the west wing of the Nederland Community Center, 750 Highway 72. FREE Tax Help at Gilpin Public Library: In partnership with Mile High United Way and Tax Help Colorado, Benefits in Action will again visit the Gilpin Library to provide free tax help to those who earned $64,000 or less last year. This year will be a one-day tax clinic in which staff from Benefits in Action will help residents complete and file their 2024 tax returns. No reservations are needed to attend. Friday Storytime: Read books, sing songs, learn some ASL, and get the wiggles out in the first half hour, followed by free play. Art Show hosted by Kaleidoscope Fine Arts Gallery: Each month this year, Kaleidoscope Fine Arts Gallery will be featuring a new Art Show. Parents’ Night Out at The Nederland Community Library: This is the Drop-Off Program that you know and love! For kids ages 5 and above only. We provide pizza, popcorn, juice, crafts, games and a movie! Drop-off is at 5 p.m. or after. Pick up your child between 7:45 and 8 p.m. Parent permission form required. The Mountain Meditation Circle is a free and open group that has been meeting every Monday evening at 6 p.m. for the last four years at the Gilpin County Public Library. New participants are always welcome. New members will need to provide their contact information prior to attending their first meeting. STEAM Club: STEAM Club at the Nederland Community Library starts on Tuesday, March 12 and runs for 8 sessions thru Tuesday, May 7. There will be no club meet during Spring Break. A shuttle will transport students directly from the Elementary school to the Library. Pickup is promptly at 5 p.m. Build imagination, creative thinking, and have fun! Kids aged 8-11 are invited to join the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Club. This is a no-cost program, but donations for snacks or healthy, individual snack donations are always appreciated to help cover some of our costs. Preschool Storytime: The Gilpin County Public Library hosts story time every Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. for ages 0 - 5 years. Join Children’s Librarian Deb Benitez for stories, fingerplays, rhymes, and more. A themed craft will follow every story. Backcountry Film Festival hosted by Wild Bear and the Backdoor Theatre: Join Wild Bear at the Backdoor Theatre, located in the Nederland Community Center at 750 Highway 72, for a night of fun & community to benefit our Snow School program, on Thursday, March 14 from 5 until 8 p.m. This program gets children into nature and interacting with scientists to learn more about snow science! Come join the community, snag some delicious food from Kaleidoscope Kitchen food truck, follow along the stories of winter survival & thriving, and have the opportunity to win prizes!
