Business Short Take: Mountain Bound Pottery

Posted

Between 2002 and 2004, a passion sparked for a young Lindsay Gianola during her high school years. During this time, she found a love of pottery and decided she wanted to pursue a career in the craft.

As the owner of Mountain Bound Pottery in Black Hawk, Gianola is able to do the craft she loves most for a living and is able to share her love of pottery with those who are interested in her creations. She says that the focus of her work is “creating functional items that are pleasing to both eye and hand, with a simplistic mountain inspired nature.”

Working by herself in the business, she attends 12-20 markets every single year to promote her pottery and has been able to extend her company’s reach all across the country. She has even sold her pottery to individuals in Hawaii and across the world to Germany.

Gianola sees other pottery businesses around her as part of a community instead of competition. She says that they all learn and grow in the craft together instead of trying to best each other as the definitive pottery business in the area.

She promotes her company through social media, markets, wholesale accounts, and special orders. Gianola believes that practicing her craft brings more attention from people who are interested in buying her creations. She improves her techniques every single day to continue sharing her love of this special art form and allow customers to see the heart and soul she puts in her art.
