Black Hawk Police Reports April 2020

On 03/27/20, Black Hawk Police took a report of someone having connected an extension cord into an exterior electrical outlet at the Black Hawk Post Office. The electrical cord was removed. On the morning of April 2, 20 the Post Master found another electrical cord plugged in. Upon inspection of the surrounding area, Chief Lloyd found additional cords plugged in at the building next door. All electrical cords were removed.

On 4/1/20, the City of Black Hawk received a message on Facebook where a resident of Gilpin County had sent a threatening Facebook post to an individual located out of county. The post was made on a political Facebook site. A detective reviewed the case and determined to document the incident and to re-open the case if the potential suspect continues to send harassing messages.

On 4/2/20, a Black Hawk Police Officer observed damage to a sign on the second level of the Carriage House Garage.

On 4/2/20, Black Hawk Officers received a report of an unsafe vehicle being driven on Miners Mesa Rd.

On 4/6/20, Black Hawk Police received information about a possible domestic violence situation. Information for the report was gathered and forwarded to the department with jurisdiction.

On 4/8/20, a Black Hawk Officer responded to the area of 321 Main Street on a report of a street light that had damage.

On 4/9/20, Black Hawk Officers responded to a Hit and Run. The vehicle was located by Gilpin County SO. The driver was summoned.

On 4/11/20, a Black Hawk Officer responded to the Wild Card Casino (120 Main Street), for a theft incident. Report taken.

On 4/14/20, a Black Hawk Officer responded to the Main and Highway 119 on a report of a traffic accident.

On 4/14/20, a Black Hawk Officer responded to 901 Miners Mesa RD on a call of damaged property.

On 4/24/20, a Black Hawk Officer took a report of a damaged stop sign on Clear Creek & Highway 119.

On 4/25/20, Black Hawk Police detained a vehicle near the intersection of SH 119 and Richman for a traffic violation. During the contact it was discovered that the driver had a cancelled driver’s license and was providing alcohol to a minor in the vehicle.

On 4/26/20, a Black Hawk Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Main Street. The driver had a restraining order listing him as being restrained from communicating with the female passenger inside the car. Due to C ovid-19 restrictions, the driver was released pending charges and the female was picked up by another party.

On 4/26/20, Black Hawk Officers assisted Gilpin County Sheriff, Clear Creek County Sheriff and Idaho Springs police department in Central City for a vehicle pursuit. The subject was taken into custody without incident.

On 4/27/20, the Facebook account for the City of Black Hawk received a suspicious message from an individual. An assessment was completed on the individual that had sent the message. No criminal charges were filed.

On 4/29/20, a Black Hawk Officer took the report of damaged city property in the 500 block of Chase Street. There is no suspect information.
