Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County. Members of the Gilpin High School track team set new records and grabbed the top ten slots in the Northern/Tri-Valley/Mile High League Championship in Longmont on May 5. They placed 20 out of 25 teams and earned 32.5 points.
Places and Times:
Steven King jumped 18.1 feet and placed 5th in the Long Jump and also ran his fastest 400m of the year, coming in seventh place with a time of 55.6.
Nicole Adams jumped four feet and six inches, placing 7th in the High Jump. She also placed eighth in the 100m dash.
The boys 4x200m relay team, Nolan Lindberg, Blake Boulter, Austin Boulter and Stephen King placed 6th.
Austin Boulter has thrown over 36 feet this year and placed 5th in the Shot Put at the league meet. Austin also has thrown over 104 in the discus and placed 6th in at the league meet. Blake Boulter ran in the 200 meter, placing 66 with a time of 30:67.
3200-meter: Lena Warren, 38th 14:29.18
Jack Ball placed 2nd in the 400m and ran 52.08 for a new school record for the season. Jack also set a school record in the 800m with a 203.8 and placed 5th in this year’s league meet. In the 200m Jack has set a new school record of 23.9 for the season and placed 7th.
