New things often give us all a sense of excitement. Toss: Wood Fired Eatery, LLC, owned by Cole Johnson, is no exception. Johnson was inspired to contribute to the Rollinsville community, and what better way to do so than with food?
Johnson shares, “Food is what brings friends and family together. There’s no way to communicate love like a freshly cooked meal.” Toss is Johnson’s first venture in the restaurant industry and the first business he started on his own.
“It’s been awesome to see how far we’ve come in the last few months.” With a core focus on wood-fired pizza, Toss opened its doors to the public on October 14, 2022. If you’re starting to drool, just wait. What’s unique about Toss is they “strike the balance between interesting flavors and easy eating,” states Johnson.
The pizzeria is the perfect complement to other businesses in Rollinsville, such as Howlin Wind Brewing and Gold Dirt Distillery. Everything goes well with pizza! Johnson, and his crew of five, are cooking up and serving delicious pizzas.
Toss is growing quickly. If you’re looking for a job, stop by and speak with Johnson. Talented community members are always welcome to join the Toss crew. The future dream is to continue supporting the growth of Rollinsville, including various pop-ups throughout the year with different types of food.
Once Gold Dirt Distillery moves to its permanent home, plans to expand Toss and fill one entire building will begin. What’s great about this is it will offer people three distinct places to gather. When asked what his favorite part about his job is, Johnson replied, “I love seeing people happy and fed.”
Johnson would like to acknowledge his community, “I could not have gotten the doors open without help from countless others in the Rollinsville community.” Beautiful and tasty things happen when people work together and support one another.
Johnson is originally from Georgia. Though he has an engineering background, he’s been dreaming of opening a restaurant since he began cooking. Now, you can share his dream while enjoying a slice or two with your favorite beverage.
