Dear Editor,
The current Colorado ballot is challenging, and requires a deep dive into not just the candidates, but the seven amendments and seven referendums.
In our case, we read the blue book front to back, which took quite a long time. Then our family sat around the kitchen counter and went through this blue book plus online sources slowly and carefully. Some of the wording in the initiatives is tricky and can easily be misconstrued. We were grateful to have the time.
Thomas Jefferson stated that if people are well-informed, they can be trusted with self-government and will correct course when political or social systems drift. "An informed citizenry is foundational to a self-governing society."
High praise to Colorado for defending our system of voting.
And if you haven't voted yet, we encourage you to do your homework.
