Barbara Lawlor, Nederland. Although the official Nederland tennis season ended last Sunday, the courts will remain open for use until the end of September. A group of members played in a laid back tournament Sunday afternoon, sharing the facility with members of the Pickle Ball team, who played on courts perpendicular to the tennis courts.
The Pickle Ball courts have all the painted lines needed to play the game and have been enjoyed by those who play in the Nederland Community Center gymnasium. Ken Adler has organized the Pickle Ball group, a sport rapidly growing in popularity in the mountain area. Adler adds, “NedPickleball.org has video links, playing schedules and a member list” for those interested in continuing into the new season.
Another addition to the Nederland Tennis Association is a bright new backboard for those who want to practice hitting ball by themselves.
