The Vault stands ready for the Mural Project.
NEDERLAND — On Friday, September 18, 2026, contracts were presented to several artists to begin preparing for The Vault Mural Project.
The project, a vision of property owner Christian Vanek (who also owns this newspaper), will brighten up the old bank building with cheerful murals that focus on each business inside the building. Themes are music, food, beer, art, real estate, and tattoo.
The selection process was completed through in-person interviews at the location, guided by a local artist. There were over a dozen applicants and it has been narrowed down to seven artists, each with a specific mural spot to paint. Painting may already have started by the time this is published.
Swing through The Vault in the next few weeks to watch the progress and meet the artists! The Vault is located at 26 S Highway 119, in Nederland.
