Nederland Police Reports - 25-08
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office had 229 calls for service in Nederland for the month of August. The calls for service included 4 criminal mischief, 9 animal complaints, 2 alarms, 4 suspicious activity, 8 fire/medical assists, 4 trespassing complaints, 15 welfare checks, 4 disturbances, 4 domestic violence, 4 harassments, 3 noise complaints, 2 thefts, 1 missing person, 1 trespass, and 1 fraud.
Included in the calls for service, deputies conducted approximately 128 traffic stops, responded to 15 assists, and 5 property damage/injury accidents. Not including the accidents, deputies issued approximately 90 citations and 10 written warnings.
Calls of Note:
Animal Use of Force
A deputy hazed a small aggressive black bear with one round at about 30 yards. It worked.
Welfare Check
Responded with a co-responder to check on a female who recently lost her daughter. She appeared to have good support from friends and neighbors.
Domestic Dispute
Two females have a history of harassing each other, and it appeared it was a verbal argument, nothing criminal. No further action taken.
Stuck bus
An RTD bus driver missed his turn at Eldora to go to the high school. Not too familiar with the area and tried to turn the bus around on a stretch of road that was much too narrow. His back tire went off the asphalt and he couldn't get traction again. Waited for about two hours to direct traffic for RTD to send their semi-wrecker tow truck to get him out.
Disturbance / Criminal Mischief
A 19 year old male got drunk and had a verbal disturbance with his 54 year old mother. He punched holes in the walls and ceilings of the house. Mother didn't want to press charges and thought he needed more mental health help than anything. Referred to a co-responder.
Trespassing
A 32 year old male was contacted while sleeping in the flower bed in the parking lot of the Diner Bar. Wearing a red hoodie with a blue backpack and blue sleeping bag. He was advised to move along and said he would take the bus first thing in the morning.
Temporary Protection Order Service
Served a TPO to a 60 year old female who is also restrained from possessing weapons. She turned in a crossbow for destruction.
Criminal Mischief
A male had a verbal altercation with another male and believed the tire on his vehicle was slashed. Still investigating.
Medical Assist
A 73 year old female was found unconscious and not breathing by a friend.
Criminal Mischief
A 54 year old male without permission hacked away and hollowed out a roof post at the CO-OP. It was an extremely amateur repair that messed with the structural integrity of the post. The male was located and charged with the above charges.
Violation of Protection Order / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Possession of a Weapon
A 54 year old male called saying there were two older white males trying to get into his 20-foot second story bedroom window. Contacted him and searched inside the building and in plain view saw a meth pipe and alcohol. The male has a protection order prohibiting him from drugs, alcohol, and weapons. He was found to have consumed a shooter, found another meth pipe, and a KA-Bar style knife. He was booked and lodged at the jail.
Informational
The food pantry had a male visit who got angry about not getting milk. He threatened them. They have seen him around town yelling at himself as well. They do not want him back. He did leave when they asked him to. A co-responder will be utilized if contacted.
Unlawful Conduct
A female was contacted for being parked in front of the Nederland water gate. Told to move along.
Mental Health Hold
A 70 year old female was experiencing a mental health crisis. She agreed to go to the hospital.
Camping Violation
A 57 year old female and 59 year old male were parked and sleeping in the lower lot of the community center. They just rented the house they own in Nederland and were sleeping there before heading down to their other house down south near the springs. Written warning.
DUI / Rollover Accident / Trespassing
A 28 year old male was lost driving drunk trying to find his way to Boulder. He somehow made his way through security on a construction site. He sped off, lost control of his truck around a corner, slid out and rolled the truck at least once. He was arrested for his 7th DUI.
Animal Complaint
We received multiple calls over the last 48 hours in reference to a sick/injured elk. CPW was contacted and they requested the Elk be dispatched. After nightfall when all businesses closed, the Elk was dispatched. CPW arrived and removed the deceased elk with no exposure to the Town.
Found Property
An iPhone 13 was found in the parking lot of the Kwik Mart. No luck in finding the owner. The Phone is in safe keeping at HQ.
Harassment / Trespass
A male and female were issued trespass warnings after causing a disturbance today and yesterday. No charges cited at this time.
