Sara Van Valkenburgh, Nederland. Chris Sheldon and Friends will be playing at the Jamestown Mercantile on March 12, 2020. Chris has been playing the Merc for many years, bringing his professional and extensive experience to his hometown of Jamestown. Playing with greats such as Phix, DeadPhish Orchestra and Great American Taxi, his talents are far reaching. As a percussionist and vocalist, he contributes to a remarkable “sonic fusion of the Grateful Dead and Steely Dan,” with the band Steely Dead, which debuted in January 2019 and is scheduled to tour the west coast through California and Oregon in early March. Dead Phish Orchestra is a well-known jam band which creates a “seamless web of Phish and Dead to split open and melt your face,” in which Chris again contributes percussion and vocals. The band Phix is an extremely profound Phish tribute band which attempts to recreate the spontaneity and energy of Phish, with their own creative twist.
Chris Sheldon himself is highly influenced by many musical greats and his accomplished contributions to the Jamestown music scene are not to be missed. Catch his show on March 12 beginning at 8 p.m. at the Merc. For more information visit his Facebook page, Chris Sheldon, which contains links to each of the other bands he contributes to or visit jamestownmercantile.com.
