Black Hawk’s HARD District celebrated its inaugural Founders’ Day at Gregory Plaza in Black Hawk, Colorado, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 4, 2022. A business on the plaza, Mountain Poppy Gifts and Boutique, celebrated the opening of its new wine bar on the same day.
Owner Leza Spencer said the gift shop is an eclectic boutique and bar offering chic, casual ladies’ apparel, bath and body products, Colorado & local souvenirs, and a wide variety of thoughtful, fun, and funky gifts.
Spencer started the gift shop in December 2021. She opened the wine bar just before the Plaza opening. It was while she operated a gift shop at the KOA campground and RV park in Central City that she got the idea to open the shop and bar, thinking that these would be a good addition to Black Hawk.
Stop in and have a beer or sip on a glass of wine while you shop. The wine bar menu has a curated list of reds, whites, and rosés as well as summer favorites sangria and mimosas. The beer and hard seltzer list is limited but excellent.
Spencer said she is really delighted in and proud of what she is doing, and sees it as rooted in the community. She enjoys meeting people, she says – and she seems to be in the perfect position to do just that.
