Meyers Services: Moving dirt for over a decade

Posted

Meyers Services was started in 2010 by Jeramy Meyers. Meyers Services features general excavation, grading, foundation excavation, septic system installation, disaster relief, retaining walls, water management, driveway repair, and snow removal. Meyers is a full service excavation company.

Meyers comes from a long line of hard-working blue collar folk. He says, “My father and his father both ran a successful heating and air conditioning business. As his son, I have always looked up to him as an incredible role model. So when I went to school for heavy equipment operating and truck driving I wanted to follow in their footsteps with my own education and expertise. I never grew out of playing in the sand box, and so chose to apply that to my career, where I can also help out the community and my neighbors.” He also says, “Playing in the sandbox as a kid and being outdoors my entire life encouraged me to start an excavating company.”

Meyers says all of the excavators up here are different. What makes his business unique is his extensive background and education in heavy equipment, as well as using that education and practical experience in the field doing river restoration and operating many different machines. Meyers strives to make sure that Meyers Services are reliable and that he provides good communication with their customers.

His favorite part of the job is the artistic side of things, making his clients’ vision become a reality. He loves to manipulate the landscape to make it beautiful and functional.

The business covers the Front Range and Foothills area, from Louisville to Nederland, Estes Park to Evergreen, Golden, and Boulder.

Meyers employs four to eight people depending on the time of year. He likes to keep it small so that he can be personally involved in every project. But, he also states, “We are growing and acquiring more machines, trucks, etc., as the need arises.”

He also says, “I am hands-on and you will often see me hauling or operating machines throughout our projects. I generally have an experienced lead operator on each job with a laborer who is often in training for equipment operating. At times we all jump on the job together and work as a team, however the best way is to get the job done.”

Meyers Services is where it is now because hard work is the foundation of the business. Meyers is involved in all the aspects of the company and it is a more than full time job. He further states, “I have great employees that I can rely on and work side by side with to best support the daily operations of the company. I like having a locally owned and operated company where I can be personally in contact with all my clients. So as long as we are busy then the company is doing well.”

When asked how Covid has affected the business, Meyers says, “Covid has been extremely difficult on our ability to acquire materials, trucking, and hauling, as well as employees. We actually went to Missouri to acquire septic materials in order to get them installed for our clients on time. We have been adjusting how we order material and doing a lot of stockpiling ourselves to ensure that we can maintain reasonable timelines. However we still find ourselves behind, but we are doing our best. Covid has been difficult on everyone but we are making do.”

Meyers concludes, “We have tried to tweak and adjust our operations as much as possible to maintain the same services and sales as pre-pandemic levels, but until the shipping and material industry catches back up we will have to maintain the best quality service we can during a difficult time.”
