Dear Editor,
I wanted to compliment the organizers of the after prom party at the Connections, on the CU Campus. I was so very impressed with how much thought and care went into making this into the safe and inclusive event that it was. The community of Nederland certainly rose to the occasion as there were many splendid gifts given away, evidence of the donations of many.
Then there were about ten parents who stayed for the duration, giving their sleeping time and energy to provide this safe alternative to the time after prom when we remember collectively about all the shenanigans we pulled in our day, and how lucky we were to be alive today.
Connections was an excellent locale for this party, as there was bowling, pool, arcade games, ping pong, black jack, Kinect dancing, and continuous door prizes throughout the night. When about 15 pizzas showed up at about 2 a.m., I thought, "these folks have thought of everything." I thought the community really showed its love and care for our students by providing this awesome place for them to party, play together, and bond.
It was a manifestation of this love and caring. I don't think it gets much better than this.
Sincerely,
Bill Thibedeau
