Senator Janice Marchman gets stuff done

Posted

Dear Editor,

Every time I drive past Megan Trusdell’s memorial site at the bottom of Boulder Canyon, I think of my State Senator, Janice Marchman.

When Megan went missing, Senator Janice Marchman volunteered to look for her.

This year she sponsored a bill, SB26-120 Megan & Kaylee’s Law, that strengthened the response when young adults go missing.

Over the last couple of Legislative sessions when I have taken nursing students to the State Capitol, I have been impressed and inspired to see how many of Senator Marchman’s bills that are being passed.

During her current Senate term, Senator Marchman was the primary sponsor of 127 bills.

A sampling of the bills she sponsored that passed include:

SB26-125: Strengthened civil-rights protections for students with disabilities;

SB24-034: Expanded access to school-based health care;

SB26-126: Made it easier for experienced teachers moving to Colorado to get licensed;

SB26-047: Protected firefighters’ ability to bring collective-bargaining questions before local voters;

SB26-070: Privacy Janice spoke on the Senate floor against government access to databases containing Coloradans’ historical location information.

Janice has also pushed for greater transparency and accountability as AI and other new technologies become more powerful.

In addition to getting stuff done, Senator Janice Marksman spends time interacting with her constituents to better understand what issues are important to them and how she can create legislation that can make everyday people’s lives better.

Please join me in making sure she can continue her valuable work representing us in Denver, and vote for Senator Janice Marchman.

Teresa Robertson
