NEDERLAND - Holly Phillips is a hair stylist unlike any other—although, in this wonderfully unusual community of ours, that may be too broad a statement.
You see, Phillips, owner of Hair by Holly LLC, sees herself as part of a community dedicated to, in her words, “fostering a collaborative spirit among fellow beauty professionals.”
She does this in her Nederland facility she calls “Salon House,” where she envisions “like-minded professionals” working, “with whom she can share tips, referrals, and motivation. ‘In Nederland, we grow together as a team,’” she believes. As of this writing she had been joined by two other professionals.
Salon House goes beyond traditional salons. She includes in her retail offerings spa-grade products such as specialized serums, pumice stones, salt scrubs, sustainable sponges, body and facial brushes, and locally handmade jewelry and candles. This diverse range of products allows clients to enjoy an elevated salon experience while supporting local artisans. It also embodies her commitment to self-care for her valued clients.
Further, Phillips “aims to create a healthy work/life balance while attracting other professionals to build a community of artistic expression. The space is designed for various practitioners, including hair stylists, barbers, massage therapists, Cranial Sacral therapists, Reiki healers, estheticians, nail artists, Sound healers…each in control of their creative careers in an affordable setting.”
“I love doing hair and being artistic and creative. Helping people feel relaxed and boosting their self-esteem is my greatest reward,” she confided to The Mountain-Ear.
A long-time hairstylist and Master Cosmetologist, Phillips has lived in Ned since 2015 after relocating from West Virginia. She stays updated with the latest trends and techniques in her field. She is certified by well-known brands such as MoroccanOil, Donna Bella Hair Extensions, and Keratin Complex, further exemplifying her commitment to excellence in service. “I’m a Moroccanoil salon with Paul Mitchell Tea Tree products,” she announces proudly.
Phillips started Hair by Holly in 2018. Quickly succumbing to the Nederland vibe, she has emphasized her passion for artistic expression by focusing on client satisfaction. Her passion evokes a similar passion in her clients, with whom she expresses her conviction that self-care is vital. What’s more, she stresses that Salon House is a safe place for both artists and clients.
