Loveland Democrat Janice Marchman has filed her candidacy for the Colorado State Senate, seeking the newly drawn Senate District 15 seat in Larimer and Boulder Counties. Marchman, a local teacher and former Thompson School District board member, committed to bringing common sense representation to the district. “I know that many families in the new district’s communities are struggling right now,” Marchman said. “I’m running to help them find good-paying jobs that make housing, health care and education more affordable. Colorado’s environment is under increasing pressure and securing a healthy and prosperous future for Colorado families starts with protecting the priceless natural resources of District 15. It’s just common sense.”
The new SD-15 promises to feature one of 2022’s most competitive races. The Colorado Independent Redistricting Commission’s electoral competitiveness analysis calculated the new boundaries give a 0% advantage to both major parties.
“This local teacher is going to bring common sense leadership to the Colorado Senate,” said former Poudre School District board member and current State Rep. Cathy Kipp (D-Fort Collins). Longtime Thompson School District board member Pam Howard said, “Janice Marchman will bring people together and get good things done for her district.” State Rep. Edie Hooton (D-Boulder) celebrated Marchman’s announcement, “Janice Marchman will be an amazing state senator. Her background in engineering and her experiences as a teacher and public servant will serve Larimer and Boulder Counties well.”
Ms. Marchman is a licensed middle school math teacher with a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. She is married and has two children.
