Holiday cookie exchange extravaganza at TOG

ALLENSPARK - What do you say when two cookies are getting ready for their fight? “Get ready to crumble!”

Luckily, the only crumbling occurred inside the tummies of Allenspark residents attending the holiday cookie exchange at The Old Gallery.

On Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Allenspark community gave the holiday season a tasty twist. Guests shared festive cookies and participated in a holiday trivia game. For $5, they could capture a moment with Santa to capture the evening with style.

The idea of a cookie exchange is that participants bring a selection of homemade cookies to share. Some sources state cookie exchanges date back to medieval times, while others claim the first documented cookie exchange occurred a little over 70 years ago.

According to The Cookie Elf, Americans eat two billion cookies every year—an estimated 200+ cookies per person and growing. Contrary to popular opinion, not all cookies are jam-packed with sugar. Today, everyone enjoys the sweet joys of cookies, from keto-friendly cookies to vegan options.

Even Santa Claus doesn’t miss out on these mouth-watering delicacies, eating an estimated 336 million cookies while dropping off presents on Christmas Eve. Don’t forget the milk this year. Sugar makes Santa thirsty.

Regardless of where or when cookie exchange parties began, they sure make for a lot of fun and a tasty evening. If you missed The Old Gallery’s Cookie Exchange, host one at home to celebrate National Cookie Exchange Day on December 22.

Why should you never make too many cookies at once? It’s too big of a whisk.

The Old Gallery is located at 14863 Highway 7, Allenspark. You can find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TheAPOldGallery/ or you can call them at 303-747-2906.
