Gilpin County Commissioner Isenhart running for re-election

Gilpin County Commissioner Linda Isenhart announced she is running for a second and final term this November. While the county currently has a strong gaming presence, Commissioner Isenhart recognizes there are other aspects of the county that require attention and protection including our public lands and infrastructure. Gilpin County remains a great mountain community with a rich history and bright future as we all work together.

In her advocacy of protecting our public lands as well as residents in unincorporated Gilpin County, Commissioner Isenhart supported the successful Timberline Fire Protection District’s inclusion election in 2017, which effectively eliminated the term “no man’s land” in our county.

Commissioner Isenhart agrees with state and local experts that wildfires are the biggest threat to our heavily forested county. Wildfire mitigation is the best way to thwart this danger. Linda says that she will continue to support wildfire mitigation, grants, education and the countywide emergency preparedness agencies. She is in favor of extending the hours of the free county slash pile service in this regard, as winter is arriving later these days.

Commissioner Isenhart has been involved in ongoing meetings with other agencies to find ways to improve the county’s broadband connections and will continue to work on finding practical solutions in this capacity in her second term if elected. She advocates for developing a county shooting range to encourage the same safe, respectful and responsible shooting habits she learned growing up in a household with guns. In serving residents of Gilpin County, Commissioner Isenhart recognizes the importance of maintaining an educated and efficient county workforce.

Long-term strategic planning for the county is currently underway.

Supporting many of our local non-profit organizations is important to Commissioner Isenhart, including the Senior Living group as they work toward building affordable housing for county seniors.

As a long-time advocate for healthcare including emergency services, Commissioner Isenhart serves on a number of boards representing Gilpin County including Jefferson Center for Mental Health, Colorado Counties, Inc. Health and Human Services steering committee, the Foothills Regional Emergency Medical and Trauma Advisory Council and the Gilpin Ambulance Authority.

As a thirty-four year resident of Gilpin County, Linda brings her knowledge of local issues and people to the table as well as her work ethic, honesty, collaboration with other jurisdictions and caring for those who call this place home.
