COAL CREEK — Independence Day festivities for the Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association (CCCIA) centered on “Stars, Stripes, and Colorado Pride” for the 72nd annual local celebration.
The celebration, emphasizing Colorado’s 150th anniversary as a state, included a pancake breakfast through the morning, followed by their annual parade.
Vendors hosted booths outside of the main community center, and the center hosted a flag raising with the National Anthem after the parade.
Live music kicked off after the flag raising, and games opened for all at the same time. The games included a cornhole tournament and the CCCIA’s first pie-eating contest.
