Central City hosts Levit Street Market

Central City hosted the Levit Street Market and swap meet on Sunday, September 18, 2022. It included a flea market and swap meet in the 300 block of Gregory Street.

Organizer Jules Korman said the event included about 16 vendors, including JKQ Barbecue. Central City Mayor Jeremy Fey also attended.

Korman said the next weekend, September 24, will be the last market for the year. The city has been running the market every Sunday for the summer. Next weekend will also include the swap meet, and anyone can sign up for a table with no charge.

Korman was also manning the table for the Holistic Homestead Market and had fresh peaches, corn and pears. The Market is located in the professional building on Highway 46 and operated by Arwen Ek.

Vendors set up both in the walls of the roofless old building and outside the wall. Jason Fletcher with Litwood Creations LLC, displayed beautiful woodwork creations. He said he also has his work displayed in One Brown Mouse in Nederland and the Mountain Heart Art Gallery in Central City as well as in Aurora.

 

He and his wife just moved to Central City a month ago from Lakewood. He said, “We are thankful to be here and it has been a dream to move here.” He hopes to open his own shop. He can be reached at LitWoodsCreations.com or by phone at 720-765-0465.

Krystal James and Calvin Meyer from Aurora brought their leatherwork including earrings. Katie Burhnham, a regular at shows around the area, brought her homemade soaps. She lives right across the street from the market and will be doing the Tommyknockers and the Nederland Holiday Market. DJ Wood design displayed beautiful wood sculptures, and Heidi Don had bracelets and beads and lots of fabric. “Come buy this fabric and make me a quilt,” she said.

Guitar player and singer Robby Wicks entertained the crowd with folk music. He sang, “I’ll Fly Away,” and said let’s give one for Jesus. It is Sunday after all.
