Fourteen years ago, Joe and Karen Tinucci were operating a catering truck in Las Vegas. The gaming connection must have stuck, because in 2018 their catering business expanded, and they opened their barbecue restaurant in one of Colorado’s three gaming towns, Central City.
Located at 120 Eureka Street in a historical building, JKQ is one of the very few restaurants in the area not connected with a casino. Their family-oriented, child-friendly restaurant serves typical barbecue fare: ribs, brisket, pork, and loaded fries. They also focus on catering for special events.
Their goal, they say, is to serve food that makes people happy. It seems to be working, because they point out they were successful even during the difficulties brought on by the COVID restrictions.
Now open winter hours – Thursday through Saturday 11:30 to 7:30 p.m.. They have only two employees. In the busy summer, they employ up to 13 people.
JKQ BBQ is located at 120 Eureka Street Central City, CO 80427. They can be reached at 775-450-4847. For additional information, check out their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/JkqBbq/
