Bring Blue Owl back
Dear Editor,
Blue Owl Bookstore in Nederland lost two thirds of its inventory last week when a water issue on the floor above them caused flooding throughout the store. It's a devastating blow to the small, family-owned and operated business. The couple who owns the store has put the surviving books into storage and are now trying to navigate how to reopen.
"With the store closed indefinitely and no income to rely on, she is facing a challenging road ahead—both financially and emotionally," Kristi, the owner's sister, wrote on GoFundMe. "Blue Owl has been more than just a store; it’s been a passion, a community space, and a labor of love. Our hope is that the building will be repaired and she can eventually return, but in the meantime, she needs our support to stay afloat."
The GoFundMe to help the owners of Blue Owl Bookstore through this difficult time has raised more than $18,000 in just three days.
