How long, and where have you lived in Gilpin County? Mid-county in Colorado Sierra for 11 years

What post-secondary schools have you attended? 

What specific training or education have you received relevant to the position? I have been a Colorado Licensed Real Estate Broker for 10+ years

Briefly describe your current career and home life. Part-time Real Estate broker. Married and have 3 German Shepard Dogs and enjoying the Mountain life!

List the Peak to Peak boards and civic or volunteer activities in which you have been involved and the dates of service. Have volunteered in several capacities throughout Gilpin County from the County Fair, the Buck for the Badge, Daycare Exploratory Committee. I have also been an Election Judge for the last 6 years and am currently the Treasurer for the Gilpin County Republican Committee.

Have you attended BoCC and/or local government meetings? Yes, many times for the last several years.

How would you enhance the experience of Gilpin County staff? I believe I can add value because I have good customer service skills, attention to detail and have the ability to work with precision. I also have great problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills as I ran my own Colorado State Licensed Daycare for 20 years.

What do you see as the major issues facing Gilpin County? How would you begin to address them? The TIF that was done for the new Central City Casino and property taxes being waved for 30 years. The effect on the Sheriffs department and Emergency services affected by the Casino.

As an elected official, what would be your top three goals for the county in the next year? 

How would you collaborate with other Gilpin County departments and organizations? Working well with the County Clerks office, Community Development and the Treasurers office would be done in a timely matter.

Why do you want to hold the office for which you are running? Have you run for/held political office before? If so, where and when? I have not run for office before.

Will you be able to meet the time requirements of the office?  Do you, or will you, have another job as well as the position you are running for? I will have to retire and put my Real Estate License on hold.

How have you, and/or how will you, operate with transparency and honesty in your role? Yes, most definitely.

How will you handle conflict resolution within your office, if elected? It’s a matter of respect, because as an elected official, I work for the citizens. Addressing all concerns in a calm and logical way without letting everyone’s emotions take over.

Please disclose any current personal and/or professional relationships with the City of Black Hawk, City of Central, or Gilpin County. As a Real Estate Broker I have worked with Black Hawk, Central City and Gilpin County.

If you could ask one other candidate one question, what would it be? Under Sheriff Demo…If the County Commissioners contract with Jefferson County for Dispatch Services, RESULTING IN ELIMINATING GILPIN COUNTY SERVICES would he support that??

What challenges do you see at the Assessor’s office? How would you remedy them? Communication with the public and making sure concerns are addressed in a way they can understand.
