Annie Thayer, Nederland. Art at the Center will be holding another virtual art reception for its fall 2020 show, opening next week, Thursday October 15, 2020. This show features three artists who have never shown with Art at the Center (AATC) before, along with 15 remarkable returning artists. Please take time to view the online show on or after October 15, and comment on Instagram @NedCCart.

To join us in celebrating this Fall Show beginning October 15, please go to www.nederlandcommunitycenter.org/art-at-the-center. Once there, you will be able to see a list of participating artists, read their bios, and see an example of their work. To see the entire show, you will be redirected to the R Gallery website which is again hosting Nederland’s AATC Fall Show. Many of our artists also have artwork hanging in R Gallery, so if you are downtown, it is worth stopping by to view the art in person. Masks and social distancing are required. R Gallery is located in downtown Boulder just a half block north of the Pearl St. Mall on the west side of Broadway. Note that the Summer AATC virtual show will be available on the AATC website until the Fall Show is put up.

Bill Ikler is not new to AATC, having performed music at many of our receptions. He was a fine art major, and has an impressive resume of award-winning artwork, along with pieces owned by President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore. The sculptures Torso I and Torso II in this show were inspired by an exhibit of Greek and Roman sculpture seen during a recent trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The ravages of time had rendered most of the work without heads, arms or legs, leaving only the torso. Be sure to read more about Bill and his artwork by clicking on his bio/artist statement on the AATC website.

Vicky Payne is also an award-winning artist, dividing her time between sunny Florida and mountainous Boulder, Colorado. Through her photography, she likes to “celebrate what’s right in the world!”—a quote by Dewitt Jones. She says, “I take photographs of Nature’s beauty, light, colors, and wonderful creations like the ocean, trees, flowers, and birds. We can only admire; we can never re-create anything as perfect as Nature’s original. However, humbly, I keep on trying.”

Ben Foster has been a photography enthusiast since the early 70’s. His work focuses on landscape and wildlife, cultural travels, and family adventures. His wife Susan, a pastel artist, is also in this Fall show.
