Dear Editor,
Concerning the Tucker Fire mitigation project, I would like to propose an alternative plan.
When a house comes up for sale, the county together with the Forest Service should buy it. After purchasing this property, they would then have a contractor come in and salvage any usable materials. In return for this free material, the contractor would level what's left. The property would then become open space.
This is fire mitigation in it's purest form. It would be one less house the fire department has to worry about.
One less house means the collective carbon footprint of the community would be reduced. A lower carbon footprint means less wildfire risk.
